VOLUNTEER WITH US!
The R.R. Smith Center is looking for art and history lovers alike to join our volunteer team! Having support from the people in our community is an important part of our success. If you're looking to get more involved with local artists, learn more about Staunton's history, get a first look at our new exhibits, and see how a gallery or non-profit works, reach out to get started!

How You Can Help!
Work at our front desk
Be a liaison between the Smith Center and our visitors. Inform guests on our current exhibits, the history of the Smith Center, and create meaningful experiences to keep guests coming back!

Connect with one of our organizations
Non-profit organizations rely on volunteers to help fill in voids. From office assistance to archive and event help, our organizations would like survive and thrive without your help.

Spread the word!
We are very proud of the R.R. Smith Center for History and Art, and of all the accomplishments of the partner organizations. You can help us by sharing the word about the building, the garden, and of the amazing work our non-profits do for the community!

WHY OUR TEAM LOVES THE SMITH CENTER!
Nicole
Volunteer Coordinator
"As a recent college graduate, I was looking to get more experience and insight into the word of local art, galleries, and non-profit. At the Smith Center, I felt a strong sense of support and community from staff, exhibiting artists, and the board. Through opportunities first as a volunteer and now as a part time employee; I was shown that they care about having outside input and having new artists in their circle. "

"There are always interesting people from all over. I specifically like having the tables and chairs for people to come in and drink coffee, visit, and enjoy the art and music."

I really enjoy meeting and sharing with folks the history of the city, the building, SAAC/ ACHS/ HSF, and their relationships with the town, city, county, and country.
There are many interesting things to share like the geographic location of Staunton and it's effects. And there are smaller things, like the view of the staircase, it's very rewarding!

I have been a docent here for many years. The thing that is most important to me is how kind and friendly the staff in the building are to me. I enjoy being the liaison of the art that is brought into the galleries and the visitors are so interesting and really enjoy the art.
